irls Allowed is an exciting new project to encourage females aged 16-23 to consider construction trade training.  The UK Construction industry does not take on the number of Apprentices it needs to annually, and less than 2% of Construction Apprentices are female. This is largely due to long-standing preconceptions and misconceptions about the industry and culture in respect of women. Girls Allowed is part of our response to challenge and change that!

Participants will get to take part in female-only Taster days, site visits and hear from industry role models who can share their own experiences of being a female in Construction. 

‘Girls Allowed’ is funded by Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) as part of Oxfordshire’s City Deal delivery, contributing towards targets to increase and widen participation in Apprenticeships.

Following the success of the first Girls Allowed Taster Day in December (read and watch here), we have organised the next four sessions for the first half of 2016:

All sessions will take place during school half-terms meaning that girls at school can participate.  All sessions will take place while our regular students are on holiday, meaning those who come will have the whole place to themselves!
